How aspect ratios decide what gets published where
The worst version of this bug is silent: you schedule a landscape clip to TikTok, it looks fine in the app, and it just never goes out. Or it goes out letterboxed with two black bars and looks amateur. Every platform has an opinion about shape. Forgefy resolves one target ratio per platform, renders only what actually needs rendering, and refuses to publish a file whose shape does not match what the platform requires.

Native platforms (X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Threads, Bluesky, Discord) publish your file as-is. No crop, no re-encode, no waiting. Instagram Feed accepts anything from 9:16 up to 1.91:1, so a landscape video is published untouched. Reels and Stories stay strictly vertical and get a blurred fill if needed. TikTok is always 9:16. Its feed is vertical-first, and a landscape upload is letterboxed. Black bars are the default fit style there because they cost no extra generation. Why did my Instagram post not get re-rendered?
Because it did not need to be. Instagram Feed accepts your source shape, so re-encoding it would cost you time and quality for zero publishing benefit.
Can I post landscape to TikTok?
It uploads, but it is letterboxed into a vertical frame. Forgefy handles that for you rather than letting the publish fail.
What happens if a render comes out at the wrong ratio?
It is rejected before upload and the post is marked failed with the reason. We would rather fail loudly than publish something a platform will reject or crop badly.
