How to use canvas backgrounds
A raw screenshot on a timeline looks like a bug report. A screenshot on a decent background looks like a product update. The difference is thirty seconds of work you should not have to do in Figma. A canvas is a designed backdrop behind your media or text: gradients, mesh, linear and solid options, coloured from your project's brand colours.

Good to know
Mesh reads as launch energy, linear reads as professional. Pick to match the message. A canvas with audio or timed captions is automatically promoted to a motion video, because those need frames to live on. The default canvas ratio is 16:9. Forgefy re-frames per platform from there.
Can I change the canvas after adding overlays?
Yes, that is what the Edit canvas pill is for. Overlays and captions stay where they were.
Do canvases use my brand colours?
Yes, when your project has a primary and accent colour set in project identity.
